DEMATERIALISATION
The process recently introduced by the Land Registry whereby evidence of title is recorded electronically and will do away with paper title deeds.
NHBC
A warranty scheme for new properties providing cover against major structural defects for 10 years.
NLIS
A system allowing most searches to be made electronically speeding up the conveyancing process.
HOME INFORMATION PACK
Detailed information about a property including Title Information, some searches and an Energy Performance Certificate. Will be compulsory for four or more bedroomed residental properties form August 2007 and has to be provided by anyone who markets a residential property. It will be illegal to put your house up for sale without one.
